Grooming Bather
Purpose of the Job
Regular coat, skin, and nail services help a dog to maintain their health and hygiene. We are passionate about helping every dog look and feel their best, and the Bather is a key team member in providing those services at a high quality. This individual has an eye for detail and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
What You Will Be Doing
The duty of the Bather is to provide high quality spa services, including but not limited to: baths, brushouts, blowouts, nail trims, nail dremels, etc. For some guests, this will prepare them for their styling by one of our groomers; for many, this will be their complete service, which leaves them feeling clean and energized.
Our Bathers have the knowledge and experience to confidently handle pets of all sizes and types in the bathing, drying, brushing, and nail care processes.
Expectations and Duties
- Guest Care
- Bathe and brush dogs of all sizes and coat types.
- Blow out dogs of all sizes and coat types using a high velocity blow dryer.
- Trim and Dremel nails for dogs of all sizes and nail types.
- Flush ears and express anal glands for dogs of all sizes.
- Watch for signs of injury, infection, or illness.
- Ensure that all dogs recently groomed are kept clean.
- Support groomers and groomer’s assistants when needed.
- Facility Care
- Keep the spa areas clean and odor free.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
- Other Duties as Assigned
Required Skills
- Basic knowledge of dog breeds and dog handling and restraint skills.
- Passionate about helping every dog look and feel their best.
- Confident in handling dogs of all sizes.
- Compassionate toward dogs who are uncomfortable with spa services.
Desired Experience and Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a pet grooming facility or pet salon environment
- Excellent work history and references
Requirements
- Must be able to complete all work in a safe manner, including operating equipment.
- Must be able to handle dogs of all sizes without being afraid of them.
- Maintain a respectful and courteous attitude toward clients and teammates in all situations.
- Our guests require care 365 days; weekend and holiday work are assigned on rotating basis.
- Must be able to squat, stoop, bend, lift 40 pounds, and do a lot of walking.
- Must be able to react quickly to auditory signals from teammates, animals, or equipment.
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance while at work, according to the dress policy.
- Read, write legibly, and communicate clearly in English with professionalism and tact.
- Ability to type on a keyboard, use a mouse, and view information on a computer screen.
- Able to grasp, hold, and manipulate objects varying from small to large with both hands.

Compensation
Base pay rate: $12/hour
