Daycare Manager

Purpose of the Job

Daycare is a core service at BARK, and the Daycare Manager is responsible for bringing about the BARK Vision in this department. As the leader in daycare, the Manager will inspire and motivate the team, and make daycare an enjoyable experience for both guests and team members.

What You Will Be Doing

The most important responsibility is team development. The Manager will research, establish, and maintain daycare policies and procedures. The Manager will monitor daycare metrics to ensure we are offering the highest quality of care and creating real value for our clients and stakeholders.

Expectations and Duties

  • Team Development
    • Hire exceptional team members committed to bringing about the Vision
    • Develop and execute training plan
    • Communicate and promote BARK culture and values to team members
    • Conduct coaching, follow-ups, corrective actions, and separations
  • Best Practices
    • Research and plan curriculum for enrichment daycare
    • Establish or update policies to improve quality of care and value provided
    • Anticipate, identify, and resolve system breakdowns
  • Value Creation
    • Monitor health of daycare service via appropriate metrics
    • Set and meet challenging goals for daycare department
    • Brainstorm ways to improve the value proposition for daycare at BARK
  • Other Duties as Assigned

Required Skills

  • Strong leadership presence
  • Expertise in dog behavior, managing safe playgroups, and teaching others
  • High quality customer service attitude
  • Desire to create a courteous, friendly, professional work environment
  • Ability to train, motivate, and manage team members consistently and fairly
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational ability
  • Systems thinking mindset and ability to identify fundamental problems

Desired Experience and Education

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s in business or related field desired
  • 2+ years’ management experience in a pet facility or pet care environment
  • Excellent work history and references

Requirements

  • Must be able to complete all work in a safe manner, including operating equipment.
  • Must be able to handle dogs of all sizes without being afraid of them.
  • Maintain a respectful and courteous attitude toward clients and teammates in all situations.
  • Our guests require care 365 days; weekend and holiday work are assigned on rotating basis.
  • Must be able to squat, stoop, bend, lift 40 pounds, and do a lot of walking.
  • Must be able to react quickly to auditory signals from teammates, animals, or equipment.
  • Maintain a neat and professional appearance while at work, according to the dress policy.
  • Read, write legibly, and communicate clearly in English with professionalism and tact.
  • Ability to type on a keyboard, use a mouse, and view information on a computer screen.
  • Able to grasp, hold, and manipulate objects varying from small to large with both hands.

Compensation

Base Pay Rate: $17/hour

Pay depends on experience and qualifications, with performance-based bonus upon approval. We don’t hire only to fill a seat, rather we take our time looking for the right people. If you know without a doubt that you are a fit, let’s talk.
